National Himalayan Mountain Biking Expedition Manali – 2015

For the last 44 years the Youth Hostels Association of India is organizing National Himalayan Trekking Expeditions in the heart of Himalayas. With all the effort and courage bringing together, with all the joy of exploring Mother Nature, we are organizing National Mountain Biking Expedition in very famous hill station  Manali  in Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh. Kullu Valley know as 'Valley of God' Manali (6726 ft) the picturesque valley, is also known as the Queen of Hill stations, located on the bank of river Beas. Manali is situated near the end of the valley on the National Highway leading to Leh. One sees well-defined snow capped peaks, the Beas river with its clear water meanders through the town. On the other side are deodar and pine trees, tiny fields and fruit orchards. It is an excellent place for a holiday, a favorite resort for trekkers and Bikers. From temples to antiquity, to picturesque sight-seeing spots and adventure activities, Manali is a popular resort for all seasons and for all travelers.
Purpose : The purpose of the expedition is to expose the YHAI members to a greater adventure and to rough the rigours of plodding with a sense of love for nature and outdoor recreational activity aiming at promoting adventure in tandem with national. 
Reporting Dates : The expedition consists of only 27 batches of 25 participants each. Reporting dates are 1st October - 27th-October'2015.

Schedule
Day 1- Reporting at the Base Camp Manali International Youth Hostel at 10:00 AM. After lunch orientation and general information about the expedition, Bike Rules and Safety Tips etc.
Day 2 - Biking to Hadimba temple, old Manali and Vasisth famous for hot water springs.(18Kms). Back to Manali Youth Hostel in the evening.
Day 3 - Biking to Solang valley via Bhang and Palchan and while coming back via Burua, Gaushal and old Manali. Back  to Manali Youth Hostel in the evening (38 Kms).
Day 4 - Biking to Naggar via Jagatsukh (one can see  Gayatri temple here) Haripur and in Naggar members can visit Nagger Castle(ancient Fort) and famous Nicholes Reorich Art Gallery. Back to Manali Youth Hostel in the evening. (34 KMs)
Day 5- Group breaks after breakfast (09:30 AM). 
Note : Program schedule and route of expedition are subject to change without prior notice. 
Fee : Participation fee Rs.3800/- per head which cover the use of  bicycle, equipment, dormitory accommodation, simple nutritious Vegetarian meals, guiding and insurance. Participants will bear to and fro travel expenses from their home to base camp Manali.
Note : YHAI trekking expeditions are not subsidized by any Government or donors.   
How to Apply: Members desirous of joining this expedition may apply on the prescribed registration form duly supported by a Medical Certificate, along with a D. D. of requisite amount of Rs.3800/- in favour of “ Youth Hostels Association of India” payable at New Delhi and dispatch it to following address: Trekking Division, National Office, Youth Hostels Association of India, 5, Nyaya Marg, Chankayapuri. Members can also apply through our YHAI Units or State Branch in their respective area.  
N.B: Without admit card and Medical fitness Certificate do not claim your registration as confirmed. Please submit  the original Medical Certificate at the time of reporting at Base Camp if not submitted with registration Form.  
Cancellation: In case you are unable to join this expedition you will get Rs.1900/- of the expedition fees as refund,  provided your request is received directly in the National Office, New Delhi before 15th September 2015. After this date no refund application will be considered. Any unforeseen event /  strike or natural calamity will not be considered as a cause of cancellation. Refund will be given only after completion of the expedition.
