ABOUT THE PROGRAM : YHAI Gujarat State Branch is organizing the Winter Trekking Expedition in the beautiful region of Satpuda range of Shoolpaneshwer Wild life Sanctuary from 15th Nov 2013 to 17th Nov. 2013.
Shoolpaneshwar Wild Life Sanctuary : Birds having affinities with Himalayan and Western Ghats, a variety of raptors, the hills of Satpuda range, the thrill of coming across a python or flying squirrel, pangolin or big / lesser cats and the scenic beauty of moist deciduous forest... all this can be enjoyed by an eco-tourist at Shoolpaneshwar Wildlife Sanctuary. The Sanctuary encompasses an area of 607.71 sq. km in Narmada district, which comprises a major watershed, feeding the Sardar Sarovar and the Karjan reservoirs. Hilly tract of the Sanctuary bordering Narmada supports some of the best forests in Gujarat. The physical aspect is dominated by the Rajpipla hills.
Zarwani Eco Campsite : This campsite is situated in the Narmada District. It is 28 kms from Rajpipla towards Kevadia Colony at the Narmada Dam site. It is 7 kms from the Thawadia check post. It is situated inside the Shoolpaneshwar Wildlife Sanctuary which is home to a gamut of flora & fauna. The wildlife attraction include leopards, wild sloth bears, hyena, various species of Deer and wild dogs. One can also see the rhesus monkey and the barking deer or muntjac which are rarely found in other parts of the country. One can arrange for day picnics or treks with the help of the forest department, with the forest, waterfalls and other natural beauty within easy reach. Other sightseeing areas nearby include the Zarwani waterfalls, the Shoolpaneshwar Temple, the Dheer Khadi.
Karjan Dam & Junaraj : This dam was successfully built as a model dam for Sardar Sarovar Dam. Engineering technologies used for the construction of both the dams are similar. Built with the primary purpose of irrigation this dam has become blessings for the farmers of the Nandod Taluka. The initiatives of Eco tourism have been development like Junaraj Jungle Trek and Boat Safari in the valleys at the backwaters and ecotourism sites developed on the islands enthralls visitors who can stay overnight at ecotourism centers far away from mainland and learn more about nature and ecosystem. The unforgettable experience during the journey deep amongst the lush green islands and surrounding forest area is the great reason for visitors from all over to India.
Nearest places to visit : Shoolpaneshwar temple at Gora Colony, Rupgadh Fort, Ninai Waterfall, Sardar Sarovar dam, Interpretation Center at Kevadia, Rajvant & Wadia Palace at Rajpipla.
PURPOSE OF EXPEDITION: The purpose of this expedition is to offer the youth new trekking regions in the Shoolpaneshwer Wild Life Sanctuary and its surrounding area & providing a healthy outdoor activity during the weekend.
PARTICIPATION : Participation is open to all educational institutions, individual & recognized units of YHAI. The strength of a group shall be 65 only. Participants have to bear all travel expenses from their place to the base camp at Bharuch & back from Bharuch
PROGRAMME FEE : Rs. 1300/- from Bharuch to Bharuch( Fee include : All internal transport by Bus and Tempo, Accomodation,Veg. food , Boat jopurney, WLS forest entry fee on Both day, Guide fee etc.
REPORTING DATES : Participants can report on 16th Nov 2013 at Bharuch Base Camp after 14.30 Hrs. PROGRAMME CONDUCTED BY : YHAI Bharuch Unit (027-GUJ-042) 
ROUTE & SCHEDULE
Day .1 Friday : 15th Nov.2012 : Repoerting at Bharuch from 14.30 hrs onwards, Dinner will be served to all reported participant up to 8.300 PM.
Day . 2 Sat, 16 th Nov.2012 : Dep. from Bharuch Base Camp at 6.00 AM sharp and arr. at Shoolpaneshwar Temple ( 2 Hrs Bus journey) for Tea & Breakfast. Trek of 7 KM up tom Zarwni water fall ( Shoolpaneshwar Wildlife Sanctury) and evening visit to another Water fall at Limda Falia. Night stay at Zarwani Eco camp site or Shoolpaneshwer Temple Guest House. Dinner and Camp fire
Day. 3 Sunday, 17th Nov.2012 : Dep. from Zarwani and arr. at Karjan Dam site( 0.45 Hrs bus journey) . A trek of 11 Km for JUNARAJ village , Lunch and dep. by Boat journey of 1 hr., Light refreshment and back to Bharuch city at 7.00 PM. group break at Bharuch.
HOW TO GET THERE :
.By road : Bharuch &  Rajpipla are accessible by buses. The Sardar Sarovar dam site can also be reached by Public & private vehicle.
By rail : Bharuch is the nearest railway station at 80 km.
By air : The closest airport is at Vadodara at 95 km.
ACCOMODATION FACILITIES : Dormatary in Hall with common wash room.
FOOD AND WATER SUPPLY : Light breakfast and simple vegetarian lunch & Dinner will be provided during the program. Natural drinking water will be available during trekking and at Base camp also.

Programme Schedule:
Day one - Arrival
Day two –Visit to Mysore and back- Srirangapattina, Ranganathaswamy temple, Tippu Sultan Fort, St.Philomina's Church, Chamundi Hills, Big Bull Temple, Mysore Palace, Brindawan Garden
Day Three – Bangalore local visit - Iskon Temple, LalBagh, CubbonBagh, Vishweshwaraiya Technical Museum, VidhanSoudha, Art Gallery, Commercial Street
Day Four - Departure after Breakfast
FEE: Rs.6500/- for a family of two adults & two children, below the age of 12 years. Cost includes stay, food during the programme and transport on day-2 & day-3.
CANCELLATION RULES : In case you are unable to join this camp, you will get a refund of Rs.3250/- provided your request is received directly at the National Office-New Delhi, at least 15 days in advance from the date of your joining. Any unforeseen event / strike or natural calamity will not be considered as a cause of cancellation. The refund will be given after completion of the program.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
1. Any YHAI member can participate on first come first serve bases.
2. A family consists of husband, wife and two children up to the age of 12years. Copy of DOB proof for the children between ages 10 to 12 years must be attached with application forms or must be submitted at the time of reporting at the Base Camp. Photographs of the Family Head must be attached on the forms.
3. For children above 12 years of age, or for an extra family member, Rs.1000/- per person will be charged, over & above.
4. A single person does not constitute a family and shall not be allowed at the camp, however, couples may register. Parent of very small children should arrange for their bottle feed.
5. Photo ID Proof of the head of the family should be attached with the application form, to be produced at the time of reporting at the base camp.

For the first time Youth Hostels Association of India is organizing the National Himalayan Mountain Biking Expedition in Manali. This program has been designed to fulfill the demand of the YHAI members who could not join the Leh program,2013 as it is for limited participants and also all the seats booked in a very short period. The request comes from the members to organize alternative Mountain Biking Program in Himalaya. So we decided to organize this program in very famous hill station Manali in Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh. Manali is most picturesque valley, is also known as the Queen of Hill station, located on the bank of river Beas river. Kullu valley is known as Valley of God. This Mountain Biking expedition will cover places of importance like Hadimba temple, Old Manali, Vasisth, Solang Valley, Naggar etc.
  • PURPOSE : The purpose of the expedition is to expose the YHAI members to a greater adventure and to rough the rigours of plodding with a sense of love for nature and outdoor recreational activity aiming at promoting adventure in tandem with national.
  • DURATION OF THE PROGRAM : 5 Days & 4 Nights.
  • REPORTING DATES : There will be 20 participants inn each group on the following reporting dates:24th Oct, 28th Oct, 01st Nov, 05th Nov, 09th Nov, 13th Nov, 17th Nov, 21st Nov &  25th Nov, 2013.
  • PROGRAM FEE : Participation fee Rs.2700/- per head which cover the use of bicycle, equipment, dormitory accommodation, simple nutritious Vegetarian meals, guiding and insurance.Participants will bear to and fro travel expenses from their home to base camp Manali.
  • BASE CAMP : International Youth Hostel Manali, Prini Village, Himachal Pradesh. SCHEDULE :
  • Day 1- Reporting at the Base Camp Manali International Youth Hostel at 10:00 AM. After lunch orientation and general information about the expedition, Bike Rules and Safety Tips etc.
  • Day 2 - Biking to Hadimba temple, old Manali and Vasisth famous for hot water springs.(18Kms). Back to Manali Youth Hostel in the evening.
  • Day 3 - Biking to Solang valley via Bhang and Palchan and while coming back via Burua, Gaushal and old Manali. Back to Manali Youth Hostel in the evening (38 Kms).
  • Day 4 - Biking to Naggar via Jagatsukh (one can see Gayatri temple here) Haripur and in Naggar members can visit Nagger Castle(ancient Fort) and famous Nicholes Reorich Art Gallery. Back to Manali Youth Hostel in the evening. (34 KMs)
  • Day 5- Group breaks after breakfast (09:30 AM).
  • HOW TO JOIN : Members desirous of joining this programme may apply on the prescribed registration form duly supported by a Medical Certificate, along with a DD of requisite amount in favour of " Youth Hostels Association of India" payable at New delhi.   • HOW TO REACH THE BASE CAMP : By Bus:- Manali is about 560 kms from Delhi, 280 kms from Shimla & 350 kms from Chandigarh. HRTC/Himachal Tourism operates Volvo buses for Manali. By Train:- Nearest railway station are Ambala(310 kms) and Chandigarh(310 kms).
  • ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES : Dormitory accommodation will be provided in International Youth Hostel Manali.

YHAI UNESCO World Heritage Sunderban Chalo

  • UNESCO World Heritage Sunderban Chalo
  • The Sundarbans is the largest single block of tidal halophytic mangrove forest in the world. The Sundarbans is a UNESCO World Heritage Site covering parts of Bangladesh and the Indian state of West Bengal. The Sundarbans National Park is a National Park, Tiger Reserve, and a Biosphere Reserve located in the Sundarbans delta in the Indian state of West Bengal. This region is densely covered by mangrove forests, and is one of the largest reserves for the Royal Bengal tiger. We are pleased to inform that Youth Hostels Association of India, West Bengal State Branch is organising a very popular World Heritage Trip to Sunderban, which is enlisted in world heritage book by UNESCO. Unlike other wildlife parks, where roads, jeeps and guides provide a semblance of control, here visitors will find themselves holding their breath and stiffening to state of alertness as their boats glide through the creeks and rivulets, bordered with primeval mangrove forest sheltering the most unimaginable dangers in it's impenetrable undergrowth. A unique region, where there are no borders to divide fresh from saline water, river from sea.
  • REPORTING DATES at Kolkata Base Camp : 1) 16 Nov. 2013, 2) 23 Nov. 2013 3) 30 Nov. 2013 4) 07 Dec. 2013. All Participants will report at Base Camp after 15-00 hrs.

  • ABOUT THE PROGRAM : YHAI Tamil Nadu State Branch is organizing the Winter Trekking Expedition in the beautiful region of Kodaikanal- Munnar from 21st December 2013 to 3rd January 2014. Eight Groups: 40 persons in each group, Each Group Seven Days Trek ( 21-12-13 to 03-01-2014)
  • PURPOSE OF EXPEDITION: The purpose of this expedition is to offer the youth new trekking regions in the Kodai- Munnar Hills & providing a healthy outdoor activity during the weekend.
  • PARTICIPATION : Participation is open to all educational institutions, individual & recognized units of YHAI. The strength of a group shall be 40 only. Participants have to bear all travel expenses from their place to the base camp at Kodaikanal & back from Munnar.
  • PARTICIPATION FEES : Member: Rs.4200, The fee includes simple vegetarian food, accommodation, supervision, expert guidance & equipments for 7 days & sight- seeing expenses by jeep at Munnar.
  • REPORTING DATES: : Participants can chose to report on day between 21st December 2013 to 28th December 2013.
