  • Family Adventure Camping Dalhousie -2013

  • Date : 11th Nov. 2013 to 15 Nov. 2013 ( 5 Day & 4 Night)
  • YHAI - Gujarat State Branch is organising State level Family Adventure Camping in the Dalhousie region of western Himalaya for last few years. On a popular demand from our Gujarat State YHAI members, we are ones again organising this Family camping for the benifit of our members who are not in a position to participate in the trekking but would like to be the part of adventure along with families and friends.
  • Who can Participate : A family consists of husband, wife and two children upto the age of 12 years. A single person does not constitute a family and shall not be registered for this camp.
  • Participation Fee : Participation Fee Rs. 3500/- for a family consists of husband, wife and two children, in which stay, food, activities(Rappelling & Rivercrossing) & one Momento per family included. ( Rs.900/- will be charged for more than two children or other adult members)
  • Reporting Date : Arrangement has been made to accommodate 25 famillies on following dates : 11th Nov. 2013 : Only One Batch (5 Day & 4 Night )
  • Duration : The duration of the camp for each family is 5 Day & 4 Night. Reporting before lunch on 1st day and departure after breakfast on 5th day. All sight-seeing shall be at your own cost. Our volunteers may help you in planning your programme.

  • Facilities : Beds - 92, Hygenic, homely food at nominal tariff,Running Hot/Cold water Leaders Room,STD/ISD Ground for Games, Laundry, Trekking Programme, Internet, Rappelling / River Crossing,Music system for evening get together, Package Programme ,T.V. in Lounge Mobile Charging.
  • Dormitory accommodation is provided with neat and clean toilets. Safe and homely stay. Youth Hostels Dalhousie is Non-Smoking, Non-Alcoholic/ Non-Drug areas.
  • Climate of Dalhousie : Mid Sept. to November Autumn Max 20°C to Min 12°C
  • HOW TO REACH : Distance from Pathankot : 80 Kms (2:30 hrs. by road),Direct bus(HRTC) from Delhi, Trains Delhi-Jammu route station Pathankot/ Chakki Bank, Dalhousie to Pathankot 80 km.,Dalhousie to Shimla 336 km.,Dalhousie to Manali 360 km.,Dalhousie to Amritsar 191 km.,Dalhousie to Jammu 190 km., Dalhousie to Dharamshala - via Lahru 127 km.
  • Food : Morning tea, breakfast, lunch / packed lunch, evening tea and Dinner shall be provided. Simple vegetarian, good quality nutritious food shall be served at the hostel.
  • Dalhousie : In western Himachal Pradesh, the hill station of Dalhousie is full of old world charm and holds lingering echos of the 'RAJ'. It covers an area of about 14 sq. km. and is built of five hills Kathlog, Patreyn, Tehra, Bakrota and Balun. it is named after the British governor General of the 19th century, Lord Dalhousie. The town's heights varies between ,525m and 2,378ml, and it is surrounded by varied vegetation-pines, deodars, oaks and flowering rhododendron. Dalhousie has charming colonial architecture, including some beautiful churches. Its location presents panoramic views of the plains- and like a long silver line, the river Ravi twists and turns below Dalhousie. The spectacular snow-covered Dhauladhar mountains are also visible form this enchanting town.
  • KHAJJIAR : Often called India's Switzerland, the exquisite glade of Khajjiar (1960m) has a circumference of about 5 km. Along its fringes, thick forests of deodar climb the slopes, the snow-line rests above these woods and in the centre of the glade, is a small lake fed by streams that traverse the green carpet. At Khajjiar there is a 12th century temple dedicated to Khajjair. Within the temple are lifesize wooden images of the five Pandav brothers.
  • CHAMBA : Chamba town (915m). stands on the right bank of the river Ravi. As a former princely State, it is one of the oldest in the century and dates back to the sixth century. It is well known for its splendid architecture and as the base for numerous excursions. It is also a district headquarters.
