- Hello Students,
- Combine adventure with education camp for 8 days in the beautiful Kullu valley-the abode of Gods in Himachal Pradesh, is being organized for you by the Youth Hostels Association of India. The nature study camp includes bird-watching, star gazing,(identifying satellites) rock climbing,trekking and first aid training. You may also photograph the panoramic views of the surrounding areas. Avail this opportunity of staying in the camp site amidst majestic snow peaks of Himalayas and meet the youngsters from various parts of the country. At night, sit around the camp fire after dinner for a cultural get together, with a sense of love for nature and outdoor activity,aiming at promoting national integration.
- Participation fee : Participation fee is Rs.2450/- for a package of 8 enjoyable days in the pollution free atmosphere of the Himalayas. This includes nutritious vegetarian food, accommodation, equipments, training, trek to snow line,forest entry fee and insurance. Note: YHAI Trekking expeditions are not subsidized by any Government aid or any donors.
- Eligibility : The program is open to students of age group between 10 -15 yrs. Only junior members are allowed to participate. Overage/ underage students shall not be considered in any case.
- Duration : The program begins on the 29th April at the Youth Hostel Dobhi as a base camp. Each day from 29th April to 31st May 2013 a group of 50 students will be received at the base camp. You can report on any of these dates after getting your seats confirmed. The duration of the camp for group group is 7nights and 8 days. Reporting before lunch on 1st day and departure after breakfast on 8th day extra stay will be subject to availability of accommodation on payments basis.
- Schedule
- Day 1: Report at base camp Dobhi, Kullu, Himachal Pradesh- 4500ft.
- Day 2: Acclimatization, rock climbing, river crossing.
- Day 3: Base Camp to Katrai by Bus (4kms). Trek to Kharogi Youth Hostel (7kms)- 6000ft, 4 hrs
- Day 4: Trek to Naya Tapru Youth Hostel (6kms)- 8200ft, 5hrs
- Day 5: Trek to Chanderkhani Base- 10000ft and back to Naya Tapru Youth Hostel (12kms), 6hrs
- Day 6: Trek to Nathan Seri Youth Hostel (14kms)- 6000ft, 8hrs
- Day 7: Trek to Base camp Youth Hostel Dobhi (10kms), 3hrs, Valedictory Function.
- Day 8: Group breaks after breakfast.
- Personal Items to be brought by you : Rucksack (if you have), Cotton Shirt, Cotton Trousers, Woolen Jersey or Jacket, Woolen Muffler / monkey cap, Light raincoat, Hunter shoes, 2 pairs of woolen socks, Hand gloves, Torch with spare batteries, Water Bottle, Lunch Box, , Enameled or Steel Mug / tumbler, Plate, Spoon, Water purifying tablets, Pen knife knife, Needle, Thread, Spare buttons, Goggles, Cold cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, Medicies which you normally use at home, Camera with extra battery.
- Where to Report : Dobhi is directly connected with Delhi (527kms), Chandigarh (226kms) by road. Regular bus services are available. The nearest rail heads for Dobhi are Ambala & Chandigarh. The nearest airport is Bhuntar. Youth Hostel Dobhi is 14kms on Kullu-Manali highway
- How to Apply : Members desirous of joining this program may apply online through our website www.yhaindia.org,or, by the prescribed registration form duly supported by a Medical Certificate, along with a DD of requisite amount in favor of Youth Hostels Association of India, payable at New Delhi. Members can also apply through the State Branch or Local Unit of YHAI. N.B: Without admit card do not claim your registration as confirmed.
