  • Youth Hostels Association of India has been organizing various adventure programs for the last 42 years. People from the poles apart cultures and regions participate in our programs and enjoy our economical and budgeted trekking adventures. A large number of volunteers work with dedication, and support us for running these programs. As a part of the Silver Jubilee Celebration of YHAI National Trekking, in 1995 we introduced the Family camping Program for the families of our volunteer camp leaders and other functionaries. Encouraged by the success of this adventure and, on the request of our members we repeated this program in many years till 2012. This year again, we are organizing the Family Adventure Camping Program in Manali, Himachal Pradesh. This time, the camp is being organized in the International Youth Hostel Manali, which is located far away from the cacophony of the city, and offers a calm & tranquil environment. It is located at the base of the snow capped peaks of the Himalayas and one can wish to visit the beautiful Beas, flowing silently nearby. It is the best time to enjoy the snowy winter, with the glitz of Deepawali, with YHAI!
  • FEE : Rs.4500/- per family, including food, accommodation, guidance & insurance.
  • CANCELLATION RULES : In case you are unable to join this trek, you will get a refund of Rs.2250/- provided your request is received directly at the National Office-New Delhi, at least 15 days in advance from the date of your joining. Any unforeseen event / strike or natural calamity will not be considered as a cause of cancellation. The refund will be given after completion of the program.

  • HOW TO REACH THE BASE CAMP : International Youth Hostel Manali, is located at Prini Village, near Club Mahindra Resort , 3km before Manali , and on the left of the banks of river Beas. It is linked by road via Ram Shila & Gamon Bridge, and commands a panoramic view of surrounding mountains. Regular bus services are available from Delhi, Chandigarh & Punjab. The nearest Railway Stations are Ambala& Chandigarh & the nearest Airport is Bhuntar (60 km).
  • WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
  • 1. Any YHAI member can participate on first come first serve bases.
  • 2. A family consists of husband, wife and two children up to the age of 12years. Copy of DOB proof for the children between ages 10 to 12 years must be attached with application forms or must be submitted at the time of reporting at the Base Camp. Photographs of the Family Head must be attached on the forms.
  • 3. For children above 12 years of age, or for an extra family member, Rs.1000/- per person will be charged, over & above.
  • 4. A single person does not constitute a family and shall not be allowed at the camp, however, couples may register. Parent of very small children should arrange for their bottle feed.
  • 5. Photo ID Proof of the head of the family should be attached with the application form, to be produced at the time of reporting at the base camp.
  • 6. Each family will be given a separate room with attached bathroom in the International Youth Hostel Manali.
  • HOW TO JOIN : Members desirous of joining this program may apply online through our website www.yhaindia.org, or, by the prescribed registration form duly supported by a Medical Certificate, along with a DD of requisite amount in favor of "Youth Hostels Association of India", payable at New Delhi. Members can also apply through the State Branch or Local Unit of YHAI.

  • FOOD & WATER SUPPLIES : Morning tea, breakfast, packed lunch, evening tea (in the camp), and dinner and after dinner tea/coffee/Bournvita, shall be provided. Nutritious, vegetarian and good quality food shall be served at the camp. Please bring your own plates, mugs, spoons etc. Natural mineral spring water has been brought to the base camp from a nearby source. Washing of clothes is strictly prohibited.
  • WHAT PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING ALONG : Woolens, cotton clothes, walking shoes, raincoat, cold cream/Vaseline, personal first aid kit, towel, bed sheets, lunch box (for packed lunch) and medicines that you normally use at home.

  • Since last 28 years we were organizing Mount Abu Trekking program at our unit level and from this year we are organizing the same at Gujarat State Level for all the unit of YHAI gujarat State at Mount Abu.
  • To connect with the Nature in its purest form & on a popular demand from our Youth hostels members, We YHAI - MEHSANA UNIT is organizing a Three Days Trek at Mount Abu. Trekking activities, Bird watching, know the trees; dip in to water fall etc. All the YHAI members are invited to grab this opportunity to escape from day to day routine life and enjoy the natures.
  • Mount Abu : Mount Abu is a popular hill station in the Aravalli Range in Sirohi district of Rajasthan state in western India near the border with Gujarat. The mountain forms a distinct rocky plateau 22 km long by 9 km wide. The highest peak on the mountain is Guru Shikhar at 1,722 m (5,650 ft) above sea level. It is referred to as 'an oasis in the desert' as its heights are home to rivers, lakes, waterfalls and evergreen forests.
  • The Sanctuary with its beautiful landscape provides an excellent opportun-ity to nature lovers to learn about nature. The area has more than 17 Nature trails or pathways passing through the jungle as indicated on the map in addition to view points, grasslands, water bodies, nallas, sunrise and sunset points. Some of the trials can also be used for purpose of horse safari. While trekking one can enjoy rock climbing, rappling, viewing of wildlife, bird watching and can study about floral wealth of Mount Abu and its tribal as well as Lok Rajput culture. The sancturary has tremendous scope for nature camps in the wild with due permission of the State Deptt. of Forests.

It rises to an altitude of 5,676 feet (1722 meters). It is 15 km from Mount Abu and a road from there leads almost to the top of the mountain. A cave at the summit contains a temple of Dattatreya, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu)

  • PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM : The purpose of the program is to expose the YHAI members to a greater adventure and rough out the rigors of plodding through forest & Hills with a sense of love for the nature and outdoor recreational activity aiming at promoting National Integration.
  • Shatrunjaya Hill, Palitana : The Shatrunjaya Hill is located at a height of 591 metres. The Shatrunjaya Temple is the most sacred temple of the Jains and one of the largest of its kind in India. One has to climb up the hill for about 4 kms (600 meters) on a stepped path to Shatrunjaya (place of victory over worldliness). You can reach this place either in Doli or lift chairs or by walking. The rich persons visit this place on richly caparisoned elephants. There are about 863 white marble Jain temples, built over 900 years on the hilltop, each with its own enclosure.. There is a stunning view from the top of the hill and the air is filled with the scent of the jasmine trees. On a clear day, you can also see the Gulf of Cambay.
  • Shri Hastagiri Tirth : This sacred place is on a hill on the bank of the river Shetrunji
  • Bhojnath Mahadev : 20 KM away from Palitana andv 1.5 Km from Hathsani village. It’s also situated on the banks of river Shetrunji.

  • The route of mountain biking is of scenic beauty and cultural diversity of Leh. This is a place with stunning beauties and sights, apart from being the centre of Tibet-Buddhist culture for ages. Leh is the land of medieval Gompa perched on roaring heights, gentle people, high altitude-deserts, quashing rivers, high peaks and passes. It is one of the most sparsely populated regions in the country. The people are a mix of the Tibetan, Balti, Dard and Aryan ethnic strains. The first day of this route will be biking from Leh to Nimo. You will see beauty of Indus river in your biking route. The next day onwards route is very beautiful and enjoyable up to Nurla which is located at a height of 10,020ft provides an awesome and breathtaking view of some most beautiful snow clad mountain peaks. Next day the route is up to Lamayuru located at 11,800ft. Lamayuru is a very high altitude deserted area of Leh and famous for 10th centuries old gompas (Buddhist Temple). You may also meet simple Buddhist people who are proud of their land, culture and heritage.
  • Purpose: The purpose of the program is to expose the YHAI members to a high altitude unspoiled area of Leh with a sense of love for nature and outdoor recreational activity aiming at promoting adventure in tandem with national integration.

  • HOW TO REACH : By Bus:
  • Route-1: from Srinagar 434km via Sonmarg, Zozila Pass & Kargil. J&K State Road Transport Corporation operates regular bus services between Srinagar and Leh on this route with overnight halt at Kargil.
  • Route-2: from Manali 474km via Keylong, Baralacha, Tanglangla & Upsi. Himachal Pradesh Tourism, HRTC and J&K SRTC operate daily Deluxe and ordinary bus services between Manali and Leh. The bus journey between Leh and Manali with an overnight halt at Keylong or Darcha.
  • By Air: Air India, Jet Airways and Go Air have daily flights from Delhi.
  • By Train: The closest railway stations are Pathankot or Chandigarh, both at least three days away by bus.

  • Youth Hostels Association of India is organizing the National Himalayan Winter Trekking Expedition in the Dalhousie region of Western Himalayas for the last 20 years. On a popular demand from our members we are once again organize this expedition from the 19th of December-2013 to the 5th of January-2014. Come and see what lies beyond the hills, peep into unseen and have a feel of snow. You are welcome to join this trail on any day during the scheduled period.
  • PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM : The purpose of the program is to expose the YHAI members to a greater adventure and rough out the rigors of plodding through snow with a sense of love for the nature and outdoor recreational activity aiming at promoting National Integration.

Bus Service: Regular bus service from Pathankot, Delhi and other parts of Punjab. Pathankot/ Chakkibank to Banikhet are about 75km (3-4hr journey by bus). Roadways buses and private taxis are available.

  • ABOUT THE PROGRAM : YOUTH HOSTEL ASSOCIATION OF INDIA has been organizing Family Adventure camps since last ten years in various part of the country. IN Bihar first time Shahabad unit of Bihar state branch introduced Family Adventure Camping at the world famous historical valley of Rajgir. It was Lord Buddha’s monsoon retreat where he used to meditate and peach on Griddhkuta, "The Hill of the Vultures". The Cyclopean wall encircles the town and engravings on wall are attributed to Lord Krishna’s Chariot. Two of the world widely practiced religions have their auspicious in Rajgir. It is a health & winter resort with its warm water ponds. About 15 kms from Rajgir famous international Monastic University NALANDA was established in the 5th century. KUNDALPUR ,the birth place of the 24th Tirthankar Mahavir is situated 16 kms away from Rajgir. PAWAPURI JAL MANDIR, the nirvana place of 24th Tirthankar Mahavir is situated 30 km away from Rajgir.
  • MAHABODHI TEMPLE ( World Heritage site declared by UNESCO since 2002) at Bodh Gaya 80 km away from Rajgir.
  • FEE : Rs.4000/- per family consisting of Husband, Wife and two children up to the age of 12 years. The fees shall remain the same even if no children accompaniies. Rs. 900 will be charged for more than two children participation will bear to and fro travel expenses from their home to base camp and all side seeing shall be at your own cost.   • HOW TO REACH : Air - The nearest airport is at patna 101 km., Rail- Rajgir it has a railway station yet the nearest convenient rail head is at 78 kms. Patna 100 kms Bakhtiyarpur 30 kms. Road- Rajgir is connected by road to Gaya 78 km, Patna 100 kms, Bakhtiyarpur 30 kms,Gaya 80 kms. Regular buses are available from all the above said points to Rajgir.

  • Youth Hostels Association of India is organizing the ‘National Heritage Trek’ expedition through some of the most scenic & beautiful areas of J & K. This 7 days trek touches unique heritage sites, green meadows & pastures, lofty mountains’ thick deodar forests, clear natural water springs, brooks & the holy river that flows just below the surface of the earth except at one location at Udhampur. This expedition offers the youth a new trekking route in the Pancheri Hills & combines a healthy outdoor activity with exposure to rich heritage of the state.
  • Purpose : The purpose of the program is to expose the YHAI members to a greater adventure and to rough the rigors of plodding with a sense of love for nature and outdoor recreational activity aiming at promoting national integration.
  • HOW TO JOIN : Members desirous of joining this program may apply online through our website www.yhaindia.org, or, by the prescribed registration form duly supported by a Medical Certificate, along with a DD of requisite amount in favor of "Youth Hostels Association of India", payable at New Delhi. Members can also apply through the State Branch or Local Unit of YHAI.

  • PROGRAM FEE : Rs.4000/- per head.
  • CANCELLATION RULES : In case you are unable to join this trek you will get a refund of Rs.2000/- provided your request is received directly in the National Office at least 15 days in advance from the date of your joining. Any unforeseen event / strike or natural calamity will not be considered as a cause of cancellation. Refund will be given after completion of the program.
  • WHO CAN PARTICIPATE : The minimum age for a member to join the program is 15 years, YHAI membership is mandatory to participate. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Under age will not be considered in any case.
  • WHAT PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING ALONG : Rucksack (if You have one), Woolens, Cotton Shirts, Slacks, Cotton Pants, Sun Cap, Shoes, Socks, Enameled or Steel Mug / tumbler, Plate, Spoon, Water purifying tablets, Pen knife, Needle, Thread, Spare buttons, Goggles, Cold cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, Rain sheet, Medicines which you normally use at home, Camera with extra batteries.
  • ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES : Tented accommodation, pucca toilet cum bathroom facility.
  • FOOD & WATER SUPPLIES : Simple, nutritious vegetarian meals.
  • SAFETY & SECURITY : Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of mountain biking routed for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.
  • Notice for Participants:
  • 1. Smoking, use of alcohol and narcotics of any desciption is strictly prohibited during the course of the program.
  • 2. Deviation from the set route of the program is not permitted. If participants may wish to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the program and checking out.
  • 3. Stay other than YHAI Camp is not allowed for the entire duration of the camp.
  • 4. This is an environment friendly trek. Do no litter any wrappers or spoil the trial in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag or anything left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you and deposit at the base camp.
  • 5. Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited. Import of any bio Non- degradable Material in Himachal Pradesh is an offence.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM : This program was initially started in the year of 2002. Six programs have been completed so far. This is a trek which goes through the tea plantation & grass lands in the altitude of 1800m high. Nature Unseen is an initiative by few nature conservationists to conserve the nature and to show the world its wonders. It has trekking and camps situated in Kannan Devan Hills of Western Ghats. Munnar is a place blessed with abundant vegetation so it opens up a myriad possibilities and opportunities to explore the fascinating facets of nature. The camps are a boon to the people who love nature and want to know the interesting facts about the 200-year history of Munnar.
HOW TO REACH : The Base Camp – "National Adventure Academy" is about 8 Kms from Munnar Town. Local Buses, Taxi or Autorikshas are available form Munnar Town to Devikulam Nearest rail head is at Angamaly or Alwaye, both are nearly 120 km away from Munnar. Angamaly / Always is an important rail junction in Ernakulam – Trissur route and is well connected to all cities in India. Nearest major airport is Cochin International airport which is about 125 km away. Private and government operated (KSRTC - Kerala State Road Transport Corporation) buses are available to Munnar from Always/Angamaly and Ernakulam

ACCOMMODATION : Providing Dormitory Accommodation in the Base camp at Devikulam with sufficient Pucca Toilet Block. A dining hall and kitchen facilities are also available in the base camp. In higher camps, tended accommodation shall be providing.
FOOD & WATER : Providing simple vegetarian food with clean drinking water. Safe and natural drinking water is available everywhere in Munnar.
THINGS TO BRING ALONG : Woolen Cloths, Cotton cloths, Trekking Boots, rain coat, cold cream. Plate, water bottle, lunch Box, Bed sheets and air pillow, Mug and Medicines use at daily.

  • Once again, We welcome you to trek in the enchanting Nilgiris with us. The purpose of this programme is to offer the youth new trekking region in the Nilgiris and providing a healthy outdoor activityduring the week end.
  • Seven Groups - Each Group Six Days Trek
  • Date : 05th Oct. to 16th Oct. 2013, First group will report on 05.10.2013 & Last group will report on 11.10.2013
  • PARTICIPATION : Participation in the programme is open to all educational Institutions, Individuals and recognized units of YHAI,Participants have to bear all travel expenses from their place to the base camp and back.
  • PARITICIPATION FEES : Rs.4000/- MEMBER, NON-MEMBER:Rs.4100/- The fee includes simple vegitarian food,accommodation,supervision expert guidance, equipment and Jungle Safari.

  • Day 2: Trek - Prasana Valley to Mukurthi Dam (10 KM)
  • Day 3: Mukurthi Dam to Pandiar Hills (12km)
  • Day 4: Pandiar Hills Pykara falls (16km)
  • Day 5: Pykara falls to Mudumalai (12km)
  • Day 6: Disperse after break fast.
  • REPORTING: All participants will report at 2.30 p.m on the reporting date allotted to them.
  • HOW TO REACH BASE CAMP : Parsana Valley : Our base camp, situated in the parsana valley is 12 Kms from Ootyt Bus stand. There are direct buses to parsans Valley from Ooty and also buses to Portimund stops at Parsans Valley. .Nearest bus stop is charing cross.
